British Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday released a letter to G8 leaders, outlining his plans for the country's G8 presidency, with priorities on boosting global economy, improving trade, tax and transparency.

In the letter published on Britain's government website the day after the country took over the one-year presidency of the G8, Cameron said he would use the presidency to help generate growth, jobs and prosperity for the long term.
"At the heart of my agenda for the Summit are three issues - advancing trade, ensuring tax compliance and promoting greater transparency," Cameron wrote.
The prime minister said he hoped that the G8 leaders can "seize the opportunity" at the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland in June and called for "strong political leadership" and "detailed policy work."
On trade issues, Cameron said "there is a huge amount on the table" in the coming year, including "a possible deal between the EU and Canada, the opening of negotiations between the EU and Japan, and Russia deepening its integration into the global trading system as it enters its second year of WTO membership."
In regards to tax, the prime minister said, "As a group of eight major economies, together we have an opportunity to galvanize collective international action. We can lead the way in sharing the information to tackle abuses of the system."
Cameron also called on the G8 leaders to "put a new and practical emphasis on transparency, accountability and open government," in partnership with less developed and emerging economies.
British Foreign Secretary William Hague will host foreign ministers from the G8 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Britain and the United States) plus the European Union in London on April 10 and 11.
