Bolivian President Evo Morales on Tuesday said that his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez is undergoing physiotherapy treatment to return to his country from Cuba, where he has spent more than a month convalescing after a cancer surgery.

"Yesterday I communicated with Cuba and we have good news: Brother Commander and President Hugo Chavez has physiotherapy to return to their country," said Morales in La Paz to begin his annual report at the beginning of his eighth year in office.
Chavez, 58, underwent a "complex" cancer operation in Havana on Dec. 11, 2012, weeks after he won his third six-year presidency.
The Venezuelan president had suffered a lung infection after the surgery and missed the Jan. 10 inauguration ceremony.
Morales said that Chavez is a "commander who fight for the liberation of his people, his nation, but also with other presidents and social movements for the liberation of the entire continent."
The Bolivian president, who visited Chavez in Havana last December, also confirmed his "respect and admiration" for Chavez.
"Leaders in the great nation like Fidel (Castro), like Hugo Chavez, are much needed at international events. I'm quite sure that we will soon be together on the summits of heads of state," he added. Venezuela's Foreign Minister Elias Jaua traveled to Cuba on Monday and exchanged with Chavez "information of national policy" and talked about the upcoming Summit between the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC)and European Union in Chile.
On Sunday, Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro said in Caracas that Chavez has entered a new post-operative phase of recovery, after overcoming the severe lung infection.
The opposition is demanding more information on the status of Chavez. The president has undergone cancer treatments since June 2011 but has declined to specify the type of cancer he has and the location of tumors that have been removed.
Chavez's allies in the National Assembly postponed indefinitely the inauguration for his new mandate. The opposition believes that it was unconstitutional, but the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the government.
